DISCUSSION

Due Process -   EPPAC made some changes to the Due Process form at the last meeting.  These changes have been incorporated into the form and are as follows:

1.The follow up needs to occur a semester after the original meeting.

2.The appeal needs to be made to the Dean of Student Services rather than the Academic Dean.

3.On the form add a place for follow-up meeting date (between comments and signature).

A revised draft form was distributed for review.  Discussion followed and it was decided to use the form as is and report back to EPPAC at the end of next semester.

ADA Statement - Statements need to be added to syllabi for the fall that says: “It is the student’s responsibility to contact the Office of Disability Services if they are requesting accommodations.”  The student is responsible for providing documentation that says they have been tested and diagnosed and are entitled to accommodations.  It will be the decision of the student and Director of Disability Services to decide whether or not they want the instructors to be notified.  The letter will come from the Office of Disability Services.  It is the students responsibility to contact the instructor and discuss accommodations.  The testing results and diagnosis will be reviewed by someone in the Office of Disability Services and they will decide what accommodations the students is allowed to receive.  One will not be  tutoring, it is not an accommodation.  Testing results have to be within the last two years.

Program Admission Requirements - There is national discussion about raising the requirements for admission to teacher education programs and the quality of graduates.  As a result, it is the recommendation of the division that we change the current admission statement to read - a student must have at least a 2.75 GPA for admission to program and admission to student teaching with no grade below a C in any course required for the program.    After some discussion, these changes were approved.
