2009 Summer Foreign Language Study Abroad Scholarship

 

Type of Program

 

1.         Must be enrolled in summer intensive foreign language study at either Laval  University or the Autonomous University of Cuahuila.

2.         The President’s Scholarship will pay $1000 to help defray expenses of the study abroad program.

Eligibility

 

1.         Must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher

2.         Must have completed at least 12 college-level credit hours at the time of application.

Selection

 

  1. Selection will be made by the Scholarship Sub-Committee of the West Virginia University at Parkersburg Committee on Internationalization.  
  2. Complete the Study Abroad Scholarship Application.
  3. Submit a 300-500-word essay detailing why foreign language study abroad will benefit your academic and/or career goals.
  4. Attach an official copy of your college transcript(s) with this application.
  5. Submit two letters of recommendation.  (One letter must be from a WVU-P professor in your major area of study.)
  6. All materials must be submitted to the Office for Global Initiatives in Room 1026A by March 9.

 

Student Responsibilities

 

  1. Student will be responsible for all trip costs not covered by the scholarship award.
  2. Student will be expected to participate in public relations events as requested by the Coordinator of the Office for Global Initiatives, the Director of Institutional Advancement, or the WVU at Parkersburg Foundation.
