Biography of Academy Director

Bob D’Avria recently retired after 31 years of service with the YMCA. His last assignment was as the Management Consultant for the YMCA of the USA serving 30 YMCAs in Ohio and West Virginia.

Prior to that position he spent 19 years as the CEO of the Parkersburg, WV YMCA. Bob started his career in 1975 at the YMCA of Greater Bergen County in Hackensack NJ, followed by four years as the Camp and Conference Center Director for the YMCA of Flint Michigan. He has formed a private consulting service specializing in working with not for profits.

Past community service includes President of the Rotary Club of Parkersburg and President of the Community Services Council. Currently, Bob serves on the Board of Directors for the Sisters of Saint Joseph’s Charitable Foundation, the Parkersburg Country Club and the Board of Advisors of West Virginia University at Parkersburg.

Bob served four years in the U.S. Air Force. He received his BA degree from Ramapo State College in Mahwah, NJ and has credits toward a master's degree from Central Michigan University in Midland, MI.

Bob and his wife Ria live in Vienna, WV and are the parents of two adult sons.
