College Chorale to Present Spring Concert

The College Chorale of West Virginia University at Parkersburg will present a free Musical Masterworks of the Millennium concert Friday (May 12) as part of this weekend’s Commencement activities.

The 8 p.m. performance will be held in the college theatre following the Pinning ceremony, held for candidates for graduation in the Nursing program.

The concert program will feature music of Palestrina, Mozart, Mendelssohn, Billings, Ellington and Copland. A new setting of "Precious Lord, Take My Hand," by Tennessee composer Kenton Coe, will also be featured.

The Chorale, under the direction of H.G. Young III, professor of music, is a small chamber choir that performs choral music of all styles. Members include Drew Atkinson, Amber Bedell, Megan Carr, Stephanie Cunningham, Wesley Custer, Allison Fontaine, Leann Haines, Justin Low, Nathan Low, Amy McFee, Stewart Milhoan and Jason Stalnaker.

The college’s 29th annual Commencement will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday (May 14) in the multi-purpose room.
