A West Virginia University at Parkersburg faculty member is king of the ping pong table.

Psychology Professor Phil McClung was a top finisher in two major ping pong tournaments recently and the only West Virginia resident to place.

Ranked 1,171st in the United States, McClung placed second in the U.S. Eastern Open’s under 1,200 ranking division in Baltimore. Also, he captured third place in the under 1,200 ranking division of the 2000 U.S. Open/International Table Tennis Federation Pro Tour tourney held in Fort Lauderdale.

The Florida tourney attracted 900 athletes from 30 countries.
