One of the best ventriloquists in the country and a veteran of Comedy Central will headline West Virginia University at Parkersburg’s Backdoor Comedy Club on Saturday, August 25.
The 8 p.m. show will be held in the college’s multi-purpose room. Doors open at 7:30 p.m.
Featured will be Dan Horn and his "cast of several" as well as Al Ducharme.
Horn is the recipient of the prestigious International Ventriloquist of the Year award. He is considered to be one of the best ventriloquists in the nation. He has worked with many notable performers, including David Spade and Rosie O’Donnell. He has also appeared on numerous tv shows, including "Comic Strip Live," VH-1’s "Stand-Up Spotlight" and NBC’s "TV’s Bloopers and Practical Jokes."
Ducharme has appeared at more than 200 colleges and dozens of comedy clubs across the country, including The Tropicana in Las Vegas. Ducharme whisks his audiences away at the speed of light to another galaxy without leaving the ground. He is known for his impressions and developing hilarious scenes on stage. He can transform himself from a Jedi Knight to C3-Po to Darth Maul to Yoda. Next he is saving a small town from a band of outlaws in the Old West. And, he often involves the audience in his routine.
Tickets for the Backdoor Comedy Club are $2 in advance for WVU Parkersburg students, staff and faculty and $4 for the general public and at the door. The show is sponsored by the college’s Student Activities. Tickets are available in the Business Office. Any remaining tickets will be sold at the door the night of the performance.
