A Friends of the Library Group is being formed at West Virginia University at Parkersburg.

An organizational meeting will be held at 7 p.m., Tuesday (January 29) in the college library. The session is open to WVU Parkersburg students, faculty, staff, alumni and the general public.

Purpose of the Friends’ group is to assist the college library staff in promoting the library’s services and resources to the general public.

"It will assist in raising funds to purchase additional electronic information resources, books, and other items needed to improve existing resources," noted Stephen Hupp, library director.

"The Friends will also assist in planning the reorganization of the current library physical plant," he added. "Along with these activities, the group and the library will present lectures, exhibits and other activities open to the general public."

During the meeting, a planning committee will be formed to draft the group’s charter and by-laws. Also, Bob Cordell, associate professor of social sciences, will give a book talk on "Norman Rockwell" by Laura Claridge.
