FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Area residents will have the opportunity to join in the holiday spirit with the community singing of Handel’s "Messiah" Saturday, Dec. 13, at West Virginia University at Parkersburg.
Free and open to the public, the sing will be held at 8 p.m. in the college theatre (Room 1305). There are no auditions, no rehearsals and no audience. Those that attend, sing. A limited number of musical scores will be available provided by Artsbridge; those than can bring their own copies are encouraged to so.
Serving as the four soloists for the holiday oratorio will be graduates of local high schools who have studied at West Virginia colleges, noted H.G. Young, professor of music and sing coordinator. They include soprano Stephanie Mills, a graduate of Parkersburg High School; alto Melissa Life, tenor Thomas Lipsmeyer, and bass Dennis Deem, all graduates of Parkersburg South High School.
The College Chorale will open the sing with a sampler of traditional carols.
