WVU Parkersburg names new Dean of Students.

Dotty
Muir joins the Parkersburg campus following the retirement of Judy Higgs who had
served as dean since 1984.
"We are delighted to have someone with Dotty’s leadership experience in student services’ settings ranging from community college to residential campuses," said WVU Parkersburg President Erik Bitterbaum.
Most recently, Dr. Muir served as vice president for student services at Owens Community College in Findlay, OH.
"It is important to me that I am a ‘visible’ campus leader who is receptive to new ideas and responsive to faculty, staff, administration, students and community," noted Dr. Muir.
"Throughout my career, I have promoted collaboration by forming strong teams of faculty, staff, student services and students to plan and implement activities to enhance student life," she continued. "I look forward to the opportunity to enhance student involvement and leadership at WVU Parkersburg."
The new Parkersburg dean received her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Akron University, her master’s in psychology from Austin Peay State University, and her doctorate in student personnel from Ohio University.
She was dean of student services at West Liberty State College from 1997-2000, served as associate dean and dean of student development at Edison Community College from 1991-1997, and served in several student services’ roles at the University of Toledo from 1986 to 1990. She was also director of admissions/counselor at Shawnee State Community College in 1980-86.
