College to honor memory of long-time staff member.

West Virginia University at Parkersburg will hold a campus memorial service Thursday, Jan. 16, to honor the memory of its long-time telephone operator.

The 12:30 p.m. memorial, which will celebrate Connie Moore-Kipp's tenure at the college, will be held in the main hallway near the Information Desk. Mrs. Moore-Kipp suffered a heart attack Dec. 8 and died following surgery Dec. 13.

For 25 years, she served as a college staff member, including secretarial and clerical positions in the business office and the college services area. But most knew her as the switchboard operator who was often the first to greet callers and visitors to campus. WVU Parkersburg officials note that many students credit Mrs. Moore-Kipp for having encouraged them to pursue and succeed in their college studies.

The memorial service is open to the public and is being held the first week of spring semester classes to give students an opportunity to participate, college officials noted. In lieu of other memorials, donations may be made to the Connie Moore-Kipp Memorial Fund at Parkersburg South High School or to the WVU at Parkersburg Foundation.
