West Virginia University at Parkersburg is offering a free class for single parents and displaced homemakers to pursue college.
“Start Smart” encourages and supports single parents and displaced homemakers who want to earn a college degree, explained Janet Ogilvie, WVU Parkersburg director of counseling. Those that qualify for the class will receive free tuition and textbooks. Also, free child care will be available on campus.
Class participants will learn about career information, study skills and time management strategies, admission procedures and financial aid options. The “Start Smart” class will meet from 6 to 8:45 p.m., weekly, Feb. 9th through April 19th, in Room 1314 at WVU Parkersburg.
