WV community college conference in Parkersburg

State community college conference to be held in Parkersburg Oct. 25-27, 2006.

Approximately 100 community college administrators, faculty and staff will be in Parkersburg this week attending the annual joint conference of the West Virginia Community College Association and West Virginia Association for Developmental Education.

The conference will be held Wednesday-Friday (Oct. 25-27) at the Blennerhassett Hotel.

West Virginia University at Parkersburg and West Virginia State Community and Technical College are serving as the co-hosts for the conference which is co-sponsored by the Community and Technical College System of West Virginia.

The two and a half-day conference will be highlighted by presentations featuring a number of nationally-recognized community college leaders. Among them will be George Boggs, president and chief executive officer of the American Association of Community Colleges; Sandy Shugart, president of Valencia (FL) Community College; John Roueche, director of the University of Texas at Austin’s Community College Leadership Program, and Jerry Sue Thornton, president of Cuyahoga Community College in Cleveland, OH.

Featured during the conference will be a variety of workshop sessions designed to provide professional development and networking opportunities.
