FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

West Virginia University at Parkersburg's Backdoor Comedy Club will feature comedians Bobby Mitchell and Spanky Saturday, Oct. 21, in the college-s multipurpose room.

Doors open at 7:30 p.m. and showtime is 8.  Tickets are $3 in advance for students and $5 for the general public.  All tickets at the door are $5.

Bobby Mitchell has been hailed as “the Stevie Wonder of comedy.” His material has been likened to “Prince and George Carlin making a Grammy-winning record together.”  His 2005 "RadioPlay" release boasted 10 songs in wildly different genres and 10 sketches featuring countless characters - all set on radio, and all completely written and performed by Bobby Mitchell himself.

Spanky first went on stage in 1985, in Dallas, Tex. Just fourteen months later, he was voted the "Funniest Man In Texas" by edging out forty other comedians to win the Texas Laff Off, sponsored by the Improvisation Comedy Club. His unconventional delivery and unique material jump-started a comedy career that has yet to slow down.

The comedy club is sponsored by the college's Student Entertainment and Activities.
