College sponsoring Essay Writing Contest to commemorate Constitution Day.CONTACT: Dr. Robert Anderson, instructor of history, 304-424-8347.

To commemorate Constitution Day, West Virginia University at Parkersburg is sponsoring its second annual essay writing contest to encourage students to reflect on the impact of the U.S. Constitution on their lives.The contest is open to WVU at Parkersburg students and senior history or political science students attending Wood County Schools' high schools.
In 300-400 words, students are to describe an amendment that they would like added to the U.S. Constitution that is not included in existing amendments. Due date for submissions is Wednesday (Sept. 13) to Robert Anderson of the college's History Department. Essays should be typed and double-spaced. They may be e-mailed as Word attachments to Dr. Anderson at rob.anderson@mail.wvu.edu .
A juried panel of faculty members will read the submissions and select the ones of highest merit. Winning entries will be put on display as part of the Constitution Day commemoration on the WVU at Parkersburg campus. Gift certificates to the WVU Parkersburg Bookstore will be awarded to the top three essays.
