CONTACT:  Becky Ash, program assistant, 304-424-8275.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Learn the basics of grantwriting in a workshop being held Friday, February 10, at West Virginia University at Parkersburg.

"Grantwriting Basics," an introduction for the new grantwriter and a refresher for those who are skill-polishing, will meet from 9 a.m. to noon in WVU Parkersburg's Center for Corporate and Community Education.

An afternoon class, "Preparing a Grant Application," will work through an actual narrative and budget for a sample grant project.   The afternoon session will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. and include a visit to WVU Parkersburg's Library and Foundation Center collection.

Topics to be covered include:  research and identification of appropriate sources; preparing the required documentation to be grant-ready; developing relationships with potential funders; understanding the terminology and completing the paperwork; elements of a narrative; creating a clear budget, and tracking and evaluation methods.

Fee for the class is $55 for either the morning or afternoon session or $100 for both.   A $6 box lunch is available to be ordered with registration.  Registration deadline is Tuesday, Feb. 7.  Information is available by contacting the college's Center for Corporate and Community Education, 424-8275.
