FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

A West Virginia University at Parkersburg music professor was a featured presenter at the 2006 Chorus America Conference held recently in Washington, D.C.

Professor H.G. Young III was a panelist for the session on "Engaging Your Community Through Composer Residences" which was moderated by John Nuechterlein, president and chief operating officer of the American Composers Forum.

Young discussed the two Continental Harmony music commissioned projects he directed in West Virginia.  The projects were supported by the American Composers Forum and the National Endowment for the Arts.  Young was joined by Grammy-award winning composer Paul Halle, who wrote one of the WV Continental Harmony compositions, and Mary Ann Pulks, managing director of the Minneapolis-based ensemble VocalEssence.

Chorus America is a national service organization whose mission is to strengthen choruses and increase appreciation of choral music so that more people are enriched by its beauty and power.
