Danita Brown has been appointed interim dean of the Student Services Division of West Virginia University at Parkersburg.

Most recently, she served as associate director for the Department of Campus Life at Ohio University.  In that role, she provided leadership for campus life, off-campus and community services and the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Programs Center. She also performed the duties of the assistant director of Campus Life for Greek Life and the duties of the assistant director for Student Organizations and Leadership, a position she held before being promoted to associate director.

"We are pleased to have Dr. Brown join our executive team as interim dean," noted Marie Foster Gnage, president of WVU Parkersburg. 

"Her background on a residential campus brings a broad array of experience," she added.  "I look forward to her work with our student government association and various student organizations."

Dr. Brown holds a bachelor of arts in sociology with a minor in psychology from Kent State University, a master of arts in community counseling from Loyola University Chicago, and a doctor of philosophy in higher education from OU.   She is a licensed professional counselor. 

Prior to her tenure at OU, she was a program coordinator in the Department of Student Activities at Loyola.

She replaces Dotty Welch who accepted a similar position at Zane State University in Ohio.
