WVU President to visit Parkersburg campus, speak at Parkersburg Rotary Club meeting.


David C. Hardesty Jr., president of West Virginia University, will visit West Virginia University at Parkersburg on Monday (April 2). 

Hardesty will speak on  "10 Characteristics of a Highly Effective Organization" at 11 a.m. in the student lounge.  Students, faculty, staff, WVU Parkersburg's Board of Advisors and the WVU at Parkersburg Foundation Board of Directors have been invited to attend.  A reception will follow.

Hardesty will also address the Parkersburg Rotary Club during its noon meeting Monday at the Blennerhassett Hotel for the last time as WVU president.  He is retiring in September 2007 and has served as the longest permanently appointed president at WVU.  A search for his replacement is under way.

Reporters are encouraged to cover the speech - likely the last in Ripley prior to his retirement. Last August, Hardesty announced plans to retire in Sept. 2007. At that time, he will have served as the longest permanently appointed president at WVU. A search for Hardesty's replacement is currently under way.
