WVU Parkersburg Phi Theta Kappa chapter wins eighth consecutive distinguished chapter award.

West Virginia University at Parkersburg's Phi Theta Kappa honorary has won a distinguished chapter award in regional competition for the eighth consecutive year.

Sigma Omega, WVU Parkersburg's PTK chapter, was honored at the recent Virginia regional PTK convention.  Only five chapters were selected for the distinguished chapter award out of 50 in the region.

The chapter was also recognized as a Five Star Chapter, the highest level of achievement that a PTK chapter can receive.   Chapters receiving this honor participated in at least four major projects for scholarship, leadership and service that reflected to the honors topic of "Gold, Gods and Glory, the Global Dynamics of Power" and an additional three projects in each category.  The chapter also won a Platinum Pinnacle Award for membership enrollment.

In addition, Sigma Omega won a third place award for the Leadership Hallmarks, fourth place for the College Project and fifth place for fundraising. Advisor Dianne Davis won the Horizon Award for Advisors.  The chapter also received the travel award for the chapter traveling the farthest with the most members.

WVU Parkersburg PTK members Patricia Klapper and Kelly Hill were added to the Virginia Region's Wall of Honor for their exemplary service. Other representing Signa Omega at the Charlottesville, Virginia convention were JoAnn Norman, and advisors Dianne Davis and Violet Mosser.

The 89th International Convention will be held in Nashville, TN in April  and members of the Sigma Omega chapter will be in attendance.  PTK is a international honorary which recognizes and encourages scholarship among two-year college students.
