More than 200 participants are expected to be involved in a mock disaster exercise Saturday (Dec. 8) designed to test the ability of multi-state emergency responders to provide communications in the event of a disaster.
The 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. drill will be held at West Virginia University at Parkersburg.
Various West Virginia and Ohio military, state, local, regional, private and volunteer communications resources will be at WVU Parkersburg to support the day-long mock disaster exercise. The goal is to test the ability and capacity of providers to generate lines of communications in a disaster.
The scenario will involve a staged situation that severely disrupts voice and data communications for an extended period of time. Traditional and non-traditional partners will be involved in teaming their resources to provide "gap" support and alternate methods of communications during the mock emergency and implement a recovery process following the disaster.cd06/1207For additional information, contact:
