WVU Parkersburg education professor named president of West Virginia State Community and Technical College.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASEA former academic dean at West Virginia University at Parkersburg is the new president of West Virginia State Community and Technical College.
Joseph L. Badgley, who most recently served as an education professor at WVU Parkersburg, was appointed the second president of WVSCTC last week. He begins his tenure at the Institute community college on June 17.
Badgley brings more than 35 years of academic and administrative experience to WVSCTC. He replaces Ervin Griffin who left WVSCTC in 2006 to become president of Halifax Community College in North Carolina.
Badgley has been at the Parkersburg campus since 1974. He first joined the Parkersburg faculty as an education professor, became the first chair of the college's Education Division in 1989, and was appointed academic dean in 2000. Badgley served as executive dean for several years before choosing to return to teaching in the Education Division last fall. He was WVU Parkersburg's interim president in 2003-2004.
Badgley received his bachelor's degree in education from Glenville State College and his master's degree and doctorate from WVU.
A native of Williamstown, he and his wife Therese Cox reside in Charleston.
