CONTACT: Deborah Lockhart, Workforce and Community Education, 304-424-8277.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
West Virginia University at Parkersburg will offer a grantwriting basics workshop Friday, Nov. 14.
An introduction for the new grantwriter and a refresher for those who are skill-polishing, the workshop will meet from 9 a.m. to noon in the college's Workforce and Community Education building.
An afternoon session on preparing a grant application will go into depth and work through an actual narrative and budget for a sample grant project. It will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. and include a visit to the college's Library and its Foundation Center collection.
Topics to be covered include research and identification of appropriate sources; preparing the required documentation for an organization to be grant-ready; developing relationships with potential funders; understanding the terminology and completing the paperwork; elements of a narrative; creating a clear budget, and tracking and evaluation methods.
Fee for the workshop is $55 per session for the first person from an organization and $45 for each additional person registered. Those who register for both morning and afternoon sessions will receive the $10 discount as well. A $6 box lunch is available to be ordered with registration for those who are attending both morning and afternoon.
Registration may be arranged by calling the college's WCE office at 304-424-8277.
