FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

West Virginia University at Parkersburg's English Department is hosting the spring meeting of the West Virginia Association of College English Teachers (WVACET).

The two-day session will be held March 14-15, and meet at the Comfort Suites in Mineral Wells.

The spring meeting is open to higher education English and humanities faculty in West Virginia and surrounding states as well as other interested colleagues. Featured talks will draw upon literary criticism/scholarship and new directions in pedagogy.  Presenters will discuss interpretations of religious texts, medieval Norse and Irish literature, the metaphysical poets, the African American poets of Appalachia, and select Bulgarian and Egyptian dramatists, as well as approaches to teaching in the “multi-dialectical classroom.”

There will also be poetry readings and a roundtable exploration of how the study of English language and literature connects with other disciplines/programs and the community-at-large.

Registration information is available by contacting Nancy Nanney, chair of WVU Parkersburg's Humanities Division, 304-424-8361, or Scott Luter, English instructor, 304-372-6992.
