FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

West Virginia University at Parkersburg will host Margaret Blennerhassett, portrayed by Debra Conner, at 11 a.m., Monday (March 17).

The History Alive! presentation will be held in the college theatre (Room 1305) in observance of Women’s History Month.  It is free and open to the public.

During the interactive program, the audience will have an opportunity to engage in a dialogue with Margaret Blennerhassett.

Arriving in the Ohio Valley with her husband in 1796, Margaret dazzled the frontier residents with wealth and refinement.  Less than 10 years later, the couple was drawn into an episode of political intrigue so controversial that it would drive them from their grand home on Blennerhassett Island and spark an historical debate that still rages.

This West Virginia Humanities Council program is supported with additional financial assistance from the Office of the Secretary, West Virginia Department of Education and the Arts.  The WVU Parkersburg presentation is sponsored by the campus Social Justice Committee.
