WVU Parkersburg theatre group to present Agatha Christie's "The Unexpected Guest."
CONTACT: Jeff Byrd, Theatre instructor, 304-424-8295.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASEWest Virginia University at Parkersburg's Delta Psi Omega chapter will present Agatha Christie's "The Unexpected Guest" on Nov. 7-9.
The student-directed production is free and open to the public. Performances are set for 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday (Nov. 7-8) and 2 p.m., Sunday (Nov. 9) in the college theater. The play is under the direction of Emily Paul and Katie Rowley.
The two-act play begins on a foggy night in which Michael Starkwedder enters the home of the Warwicks through a window in the study. He finds the dead body of Richard Warwick, and finds Laura, Warwick’s wife, holding a gun. Despite the murder being obvious, and overwhelming evidence pointing towards it, Starkwedder does not believe she killed him. The two decide to place the blame on an enemy from the past, MacGregor, a man whose son was killed by Richard’s drunk driving. As the story progresses, the two fake the fact that they were just finding out about the murder and others in the house are introduced.
The cast includes: Laura Warwick, Kelee Hartleroad; Michael Starkwedder, Eli Tracewell; Inspector Thomas, Adam Shaffer; Sergeant Cadwallader, Marylin Chalfant; Julian Farrar, Tom Reckard; Miss Bennett, Callie Tanner; Jan Warwick, Kalina Barton; Mrs. Warwick, Katie Rowley, and Angell, Matt DeVore.
