WVU Parkersburg announces appointment of interim Chief Financial Officer.

An experienced financial executive is the new interim Chief Financial Officer at West Virginia University at Parkersburg.

Christopher Clifford began serving as the college's financial management administrator July 1.

Photo of Christopher CliffordMost recently, Clifford was the senior associate vice president for finance at Ohio University. He was responsible for the controller, treasury, bursar, and procurement functions as well as sponsored research accounting and auxiliary operations, the latter an $80 million annual revenue business operation including student housing, dining, conference services and airport operations.

"We are fortunate to have Chris join our executive team," said WVU Parkersburg President Marie Foster Gnage. "He brings a strong fiscal background in higher education as well as a global corporate financial perspective."

Prior to his tenure at Ohio University, he was director of budget and finance at Mississippi State University from 2006-2007.  He also served in various capacities with Exxon Mobil Corporation, including manager of global financial planning and analysis of Exxon's synthetics division from 2004-2005 in Houston, TX; finance manager for Exxon Mobil's Hong Kong operations from 2001-2004; senior financial advisor in Exxon's Upstream division from 2000 to 2001; financial advisor for Exxon Ventures (Russia) from 1998-1999 in Houston, and financial analyst to Exxon's corporate treasurer in Dallas from 1996-1998.  He also served as a senior auditor for Ernst & Young in New York City from 1990 to 1994.

Clifford received his bachelor of professional accountancy degree from Mississippi State University and his master of business administration degree from Dartmouth College and is a CPA.

He is married to Kimberli Clifford and has three children, Courtney, Caroline, and Carson.
