FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASEWest Virginia University at Parkersburg will offer an introduction for the new grantwriter and a refresher for those who are skill-polishing in a Grantwriting Basics class to be held Friday (April 24).
The 9 a.m. to noon class will meet at WVU at Parkersburg's Workforce and Community Education building.
An afternoon class, "Preparing a Grant Application," will go into depth and work through an actual narrative and budget for a sample grant project. The afternoon session will take place from 1-4 p.m., and include a visit to the college Library and its Foundation Center collection.
Topics to be covered include: research and identification of appropriate sources; preparing the required documentation for your organization to be grant-ready; developing relationships with potential funders; understanding the terminology and completing the paperwork; elements of a narrative; creating a clear budget, and tracking and evaluation methods.
Fee for the class is $55 per class for the first person from an organization and $45 for each additional person registered. Those who register for both morning and afternoon classes will receive the $10 discount as well. A $6 box lunch is available to be ordered with registration for those who are attending both classes.
