FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASEThe author of "Witness at Hawks Nest," a fictional account of one of the worst industrial disasters in the nation, will discuss his book in a presentation Saturday, Nov. 7, at the West Virginia University at Parkersburg Library.
Dwight Harshbarger will also sign copies of his book at the 9 a.m. program which is free and open to the public.
“Witness at Hawks Nest” details one of the nation’s worst industrial disasters during a project to redirect the New River at Hawks Nest Tunnel near the Gauley Bridge in Fayette County. It is a compelling tale of injustice and destruction of well over 700 lives in the early 1930s.
Dr. Harshbarger teaches community medicine at the WVU Health Sciences Center and is a Senior Fellow at the Cambridge Center for Behavioral Studies.
