Media are welcome to observe the exercise; please report to WV State Police Detachment on Route 47 by 4:30 p.m.

 

DRILL DETAILS
West Virginia University at Parkersburg will be the site of a large-scale, multi-agency emergency exercise on Tuesday, March 17, 2009. 

The drill will begin at approximately 5 p.m. and involve several campus buildings and surrounding college grounds.

Purpose of the exercise is to evaluate the WVU Parkersburg’s emergency preparedness and the response of area emergency organizations to a campus calamity. 

Participating organizations will include Wood County Emergency Services, Wood County Sheriff’s Office (SWAT team), Parkersburg Police (SWAT team), Vienna Police (SWAT team), West Virginia State Police, St. Joseph's Ambulance Service, the Mid Ohio Valley Health Department, Parkersburg Fire Department, and a group of WVU Parkersburg students/staff who will be assisting in staging the scenario.  Also involved will be various volunteer fire department units, including Eastwood, Mineral Wells, Lubeck, Waverly, Blennerhassett and Deerwalk.

WVU Parkersburg students and faculty are on spring break and will not be on campus.
