WVU Parkersburg faculty member honored in international art competition.

A West Virginia University at Parkersburg faculty member is being honored in an international art competition in New York City.

“Rocinante,” a sculpture by Zachary Orcutt, WVU Parkersburg instructor of art, is one of six category winners in the United Creators’ Zeitgeist 2009 competition.

The exhibition’s Zeitgeist theme is an exploration of the marriage of art and technology, creative networks and communication. 

Orcutt took top honors in the sculpture category. His work is part of a digital exhibition using multi-media and broadcast simultaneously in showroom galleries in New York, Frankfurt, and Istanbul.   

Orcutt will be honored at an opening reception scheduled this week in New York City.

The WVU Parkersburg art instructor received his fine arts undergraduate degree from Syracuse University and his master’s of fine arts from Bowling Green State University.

United Creators is an international arts organization based in New York and dedicated to creating superior opportunities for artists and the art market.
