Phoenix Associates of Parkersburg has been awarded the construction contract to renovate the facade of the downtown W.T. Grant building. Phoenix was the low bidder at $223,000 for the project which involves removing and replacing some existing materials, including doors and windows, and restoring the front of the building, West Virginia University at Parkersburg officials said. The work is expected to begin within two weeks on the building, located at 705-709 Market Street in Parkersburg, and be completed by mid-February, Dave White, college director of facilities and grounds, noted. Architects for the project are Pickering Associates. The redesign has been approved by the WV Historic Preservation Office. The college is renovating the 30,000-square-foot Market Street building to serve as a downtown educational center. cd11/05/10 For additional information, contact: |
