WVU Parkersburg to sponsor suicide prevention program.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
West Virginia University at Parkersburg will host a presentation on "Suicide Prevention: Saving Lives One Community at a Time" on Wednesday (Oct. 20).
Free and open to the public, the program will be held at 6 p.m. in the college theatre (Room 1305) and feature local physician Dr. Elizabeth (Libby) Powers.
In addition, Westbrook Health Services will be on site from 5:30 - 6:00 p.m. to assist with free mental health screening services.
Dr. Powers is a graduate of WVU where she attended medical school. She has been practicing in the Parkersburg area since 1997.
The program is being held as part of the college's commitment to raise awareness of mental health issues. It is being sponsored by WVU Parkersburg's Student Counseling Center and Disability Services, the college's Psi Beta National Honor Society chapter and the Psychology Club.
