West Virginia University at Parkersburg's Theatre and Music departments will present a musical production of "Walking Happy" Friday and Saturday, May 21-22, in the college theatre.
Showtime is at 8:00 p.m. The production is free and open to the public.
"Walking Happy" features music by
Jimmy Van Heusen, lyrics by Sammy Cahn and book by Roger O. Hirson and Ketti Frings. The story is based on Harold Brighouse's play "Hobson's Choice." The musical was nominated for six Tony Awards, including best musical.WVU Parkersburg’s production is directed by Jeffrey Byrd, with music conducted by Dr. H.G. Young and choreography by Joy Held.
The cast includes WVU Parkersburg students and area residents, including the Rev. Mark Parsons as Will, Julie Watkins as Maggie and Byrd as Hobson.
