Celebrate Veteran’s Day at WVU Parkersburg and learn about veteran education benefits

Parkersburg, W.Va. 11/4/11 – Veterans and their families are invited to join West Virginia University at Parkersburg for a special event this Veteran’s Day. The event, “Saluting Service,” takes place on Friday, Nov. 11 from 1 to 3 p.m. in the college activities center. Families can enjoy games, crafts, food and fun while learning how they can take advantage of the education benefits available for veterans.

WVU Parkersburg staff will provide counseling and information sessions on veteran benefits, financial aid and admissions. The college’s student ambassadors will be on hand to give tours to those who may be unfamiliar with the campus. Guests can register to win a variety of door prizes, including a grand prize of a $1000 tuition waiver.

The Student Government Association and Student Engagement and Activities organization will also be collecting items for care packages for troops. Donations may include such items as books and games, snacks and drinks or personal care items.
