Compact / Institutional Planning
West Virginia University at Parkersburg is participating in the continuing statewide legislative planning process for higher education. Following the conclusion of a five-year strategic process mandated by the WV Legislature in Senate Bill 547, the advancement of higher education initiatives has continued with SB 653 and HB 2224. The legislation requires establishment of a Compact and Masterplan by each public institution of higher education with annual updates from 2001 through June 2007. Those planning documents are submitted for approval to the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission.
Compact Goals. The compact is designed to form an agreement between the institutions and the HEPC, and between the institutions and the citizens
of West Virginia. In addition, there are some overarching accomplishments the Legislature wishes to achieve that are to be taken into consideration with the compacts. State compact goals established by the HEPC are contained in "It All Adds Up: Compact for the Future of West Virginia."
Institutional Response. WVU Parkersburg's Compact is a work in process and forms the foundation for the institution's overall strategic planning. The documents respond to the mandates and initiatives of the legislation and are designed to provide a framework to achieve the legislative intents. The college's Compact submissions are listed and linked below. Your feedback is welcomed and encouraged.
