TITLES OF PUBLICATIONS – RULES

 

Titles of Separate (Complete) Publications:

Underscore or italicize titles of complete published works – books, magazines, new-papers, plays, pamphlets, etc.

The book entitled Marketing is used by the college.

The book entitled Marketing is used by the college. 

Underscore or italicize titles as a unit, including spaces between words.  Do not underscore sentence punctuation after a title.

We read The Daily Journal, National News, and Business World.

We read The Daily Journal, National News, and Business World.

Titles of Sections of Published Works:  For articles in a magazine or newspaper, chapters of a book, or other portions of a major work, enclose titles of articles in quotation marks.

Example:  The article entitled “The Office Today” appeared in the magazine.
