Welcome to Student Services
WVU at Parkersburg offers a comprehensive testing program to determine course placement, award college credit, to aide in career development and the admissions process.
NEW: Practice Test Library at The Learning Express Library (it is free, but you will need a West Virginia public library card. Any will do.)
Course Placement Evaluation
Sometimes called placement tests, these tests are designed to diagnose the math, English and reading skills of prospective students for course placement. The evaluations are administered primarily by appointment from mid-March to the close of Fall semester registration, and again from mid-October to the close of Spring semester registration. These exams are administered on both the Jackson County Campus and the Parkersburg campus.

Regularly enrolled students may apply to receive credit-by-examination in certain courses offered by the College. Credit-by-examination is available by either of two processes: taking the College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) exams, which are prepared by the College Board, or taking in-house tests prepared by faculty of the College.
Examination Program® (CLEP)
In-House exams are available for a variety of courses. Before taking and In-House exam, the matter must be discussed with the appropriate Division Chair. Then the Credit-by-Examination form should be completed at the Records Office (Rm. 1110).
Career Exploration Tests
WVU at Parkersburg offers career exploration inventories that are designed to help students determine how their interests relate to those of individuals currently employed in various career fields. Administered by appointment only, these tests are free to WVU Parkersburg students.
Other tests are available through the Student Development Center including American College Testing exam, Pre-Professional Skills Tests, Plumbers and Steamfitters exam and Automotive Service Excellence exam. All exams are administered on the WVU Parkersburg campus.
