Teens can design, create and innovate at WVU Parkersburg’s Teen 3D Printing Academy

 Parkersburg, W.Va. (December 4, 2024) — Teens with passion for technology and creativity can dive into the exciting world of 3D design and printing during WVU Parkersburg’s Teen 3D Printing Academy.

Led by experienced faculty and industry experts, students will gain hands-on experience with the latest 3D printing technology, learning how to bring their digital designs to life. The program will guide teens through every step of the process, from conceptualizing designs to operating 3D printers and exploring the real-world applications of this cutting-edge technology.

“Teen 3D Printing Academy teaches participants about 3D printing, how printers work and what they can be used for and different potential career options,” said April Crone, program coordinator.

Academy Activities include:

  • An introduction to 3D Printing
  • Learning the components of a 3D Printer
  • Building your own 3D Printer
  • 3D Printing troubleshooting

Participants will receive a 3D printer, one month membership to the Teen Makers club, a spool of filament and a WVU Parkersburg swag bag.

The Academy will take place Thursday, December 26 through Saturday, December 28, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Workforce and Economic Development Building.  The cost is $150 per student.
